Neighbors Help Police Arrest Weymouth Man For Drugs

Weymouth police Captain Richard M. Fuller Jr. praises citizens after they helped officers bust a suspect for dealing drugs in their neighborhood.

Weymouth police have busted another Weymouth residents for drug distribution.

On Thursday, the Weymouth Police narcotics Unit arrested Patrick J. O’Neill, age 28, from 30 Madison Street #3, on charges of distribution of Percocet after they obtained a search warrant at his residence based on a several week-long investigation.

Police started investigating after neighbors in the area complained of what they believed to be drug dealing by O’Neill, police Captain Richard M. Fuller Jr. said in a written statement.

“This is a good example of citizen’s making observations of illegal activities in their neighborhood and passing the information along to the police,” Cpt. Fuller said. “Citizens are an extra set of eyes for the police. Please don’t ever hesitate to call the police if you see unusual activity in your neighborhood.”

On Thursday at 2:15 PM, detectives stopped O’Neil after he left his home and found dozens of Oxycodone pills and $500 in cash in his possession.  When police searched his home they found more pain pills, Fuller confirmed.

O’Neill was arrested and charged with distribution of Percocet, possession with intent to distribute Percocet, conspiracy to violate the drug laws, and drug violation near a school. 

O’Neill’s home is less than half a mile from the Chapman Middle School.

He was held overnight on $25,000 cash bail.

O’Neill has several open drug cases out of Quincy District Court stemming from his arrest in August 2012 when he was arrested for distribution of class b drugs stemming from a search warrant executed by detectives at his residence, police said.

The Weymouth suspect was also convicted for possession with intent to distribute class b drugs stemming from arrests in February 2008 and Jauary 2008. He received probation after both arrests.
