Weymouth, State Police Investigating Body Found in Back Fore River

Police found the body of a middle aged man in the waters near Saunders Street in Weymouth Thursday night.

A body found in the water in Weymouth Thursday night is described to be that of a "middle aged man", according to a statement from Weymouth police Friday morning.  

Police are not releasing the name of the man at this time, pending notification of the family. 

The Weymouth Police Department confirmed Friday that they had received a report Thursday night of a possible body in the water at the end of Saunders Street, also known as the Back Fore River or Mill Cove.

Editor's Note: The Weymouth Police Department has clarified on Facebook that the area near Saunders Street is commonly known as the Back Fore River, not the Back River as previously reported in the above paragraph.

Upon arrival to the scene, officers removed the body of a middle aged man from the water on the Weymouth Harbormaster's boat, according to Friday's statement. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Weymouth and Massachusetts State Police Detective Units, along with the Norfolk County District Attorney's office, are investigating the incident.
