Free Summer Meals for Kids and Teens at Sites Across Weymouth

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides free nutritious meals to children ages 18 and younger when school is out of session.  Weymouth hosts three meal sites available Monday through Friday 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm between July 7th and August 15th:

  • Lakeview Manor, 77 Memorial Drive
  • Garafalo Road – Off Pleasant Street
  • Weston Park, 110 Front Street

No enrollment is necessary to receive a meal.

SFSP is a federally funded program administered by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in partnership with Project Bread.   Like the National School Lunch Program, SFSP is an excellent resource for families that need to supplement their food budget.   In addition, the program helps children attain the energy they need to play and be active throughout the summer.   While any child can eat free at these sites, SFPS has previously been underutilized by the community, even among students who are eligible to receive free and reduced-price school lunches.   Only 1 in 25 children in need actually used a Weymouth summer meal site in 2013, according to the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Child Nutrition Outreach Program.  Weston Park was added as a new meal site for the summer 2014, with a goal of reaching more children, teens, and families.
