Haunted Rides, Costume Parade Return to Weymouth Area

Halloween Horrors return to Derby Street.

The Derby Street Shoppes will hold their annual haunted rides, costume parade, and doggie costume contest to celebrate the Halloween season.

Haunted Rides

The outdoor mall, which is located minutes from the Weymouth town border, will take brave guests around the Hidden Pond behind Whole Foods. During the rides they will be stopped by spooky creatures, played by actors from the Company Theater,  that jump out at them, according to Christina Barrows, a  Marketing Coordinator at the Derby Shoppes.

Haunted rides will run from October 23-27  from 7 p.m.– 8:30 p.m. and tickets will now cost $5 for adults and $3 for children, aged 12 and under.

On Sunday, children are invited to wear their costumes and parade around to the different shops and trick-or-treat.

Children can start off at The Paper Store to collect their treat bags, and then make their way around to select retailers of the shopping center from 11 a.m. -12 p.m.  Last year’s guests had big smiles, even with rain starting to pour as Super Storm Sandy made her way up the coast.

Doggy Costume Parade

After kids have filled their bags, the second annual Doggy Costume Parade will take place at Hidden Pond from 12:30 – 1:30 PM.

In order to register, participants must bring a dog toy or can of dog food to be donated to the Scituate Animal Shelter.

All proceeds from the Haunted Rides benefit the Wellspring Multi-Service Center of Hull, an organization who provides support to local people facing challenges in achieving independence and self-sufficiency.
