Mark Wahlberg Comes to South Shore For Private Showing of New Movie

Hollywood came to the Weymouth border on Tuesday night for the a special screening of celebrity Mark Wahlberg's newest movie.

Actor Mark Wahlberg returned to Shipyard Drive on Tuesday night for a private screening of his new movie, 2 GUNS.

The movie premier and red carpet was held at 6 p.m. at the Patriot Cinemas, just minutes from the Weymouth border. An excited crowd of fans waited for the Hollywood Celebrity  in front of the Hingham theater.

A private dinner and fundraiser was held after the screening at the Wahlbergs' restaurant, Alma Nove, which included family and friends and local celebrities such as New England Patriots center Matt Light.

The proceeds from the event benefited the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation.

This was the fourth time Wahlberg has showed  one of his new movies in Hingham.   In 2010,  he held the showing of the “Other Guys” and the “Fighter” and in January he held a premier of Broken City at the Hingham cinema.

2 GUNS opens to the public on Friday. The film stars Wahlberg, Denzel Washington and  Bill Paxton.

Editor’s Note: Wahlberg’s Public Relations company did not invite the Hingham and Weymouth Patch into the media tent to take photos for Hingham readers.  Other local publications such as the Boston Globe, Boston Herald and Patriot Ledger were given access to the tent.
