Sunflower Contest to Be Held at Next Weymouth Farmers Market

The Weymouth Garden Club will be on site to judge which plant has the tallest stem and which has the biggest seed head.

The Weymouth Farmer’s Market has been holding a “Grow It Your Wey” Sunflower Contest throughout the summer and next Saturday a winner will be announced.

Any family or individual from Weymouth with a home grown sunflower is invited to showcase their plant at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, September 21st, one day before the official start of fall.

The Weymouth Garden Club will be on site to judge which plant has the tallest stem and which has the biggest seed head, according to Nicholas Bulens, a Grant Writer for the Town.  Winners will receive a $25 gift card and other gifts.

The Sunflower Contest will be held at Town Hall Parking Lot, rain or shine. All sunflowers must be brought to the contest booth for registration by 11:00 a.m.  Winners will be announced by approximately 11:45 a.m. Official contest rules are available on the Weymouth Farmer’s Market Facebook Page.
