Weymouth Comedian Looks To Help Three Friends Injured in Marathon Explosion

On Friday, July 26, Weymouth resident Dave Coy will hold a comedy show at the Weymouth Elks and all proceeds with benefit his three friends injured in the marathon explosions.

Weymouth Comedian Dave Coy had three friends injured in April’s Boston Marathon bombing and now he will hold a fundraiser for them.


Coy was playing cards at his home on April 15 when the bombs exploded and he said he just knew his friends were in danger.

His three former co-workers Paul and J.P. Norden and Marc Fucarile, all of Stoneham were waiting for a friend to finish the Boston Marathon when the first bomb exploded.  As they started to run towards the street, the second exploded and injured all three of them.

The three friends each lost a leg and had their bodies pelted with shrapnel.

On Friday, July 26 from 8 p.m. to midnight,  Coy will hold a comedy show at the Weymouth Elks for his friends. 

“Everyone who knows them and cares for them will be there,” Coy said.

The public is also welcome to come to the fundraiser which will benefit all three victims.

Coy will perform in the comedy along with acts from  Dave Penn, Steve Kiley, Shawn Carter, Patty Gould, Christine Hurley and Chrissy Kelleher.

All of the comedians perform throughout the state. Hurley has appeared on Nick at Nite’s American’s Funniest moms while Kelleher commonly performs at Marshfield’s Rafferty’s Pub. 

Tickets to the show can be purchased for $30 at Baileys Package store in Columbia Square or by calling Coy at 781-974-7679 or emailing him at tinknockerdave@gmail.com.  The fundraiser will also include music a 50/50 raffle and a cash bar.

The Norden Brothers and Fucarile will be present at the show to thank everyone for their support.
