Weymouth Plans 6th Annual Great Pumpkin Give a Wey

The date has been announced for the annual Great Pumpkin Give a Wey.

Weymouth will soon celebrate the start of Fall season with its sixth annual Great Pumpkin Give a Wey.

The community event will include hayrides, train rides, amusements, music and food.  In past years, there has been a pie eating contest and chowder contest between Weymouth’s finest restaurants.  Many local businesses will be present and the Weymouth Police and Fire Department will be on hand with surprises demo.

Families will also be invited to the Food Court and shop for produce, baked goods and crafts at the Weymouth Farmers Market which will be located on Libby Field for the day.

Casey Savage, Assistant to the Mayor, said the event bring in around 5,000 people.

Weymouth Mayor Sue Kay and the Community Events Committee will sponsor this free community gathering

The event will take place on Oct. 5 from 12-4 at the Town Hall and Libbey Field.  In case of rain, the event will be pushed back to Oct. 12.
