Weymouth High School Opening Sunday Night as Red Cross Hurricane Shelter

Hurricane Sandy is expected to do its most damage in the Weymouth area on Monday and Tuesday morning.

Weymouth High School was scheduled to open Sunday evening as one of three pre-landfall American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts shelters.

The opening, in parternship with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, is aimed at providing a safe place for people in the area to ride out the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

Weymouth High, along with BMC Durfee High School and Newbury Middle School, will open at 8 p.m. on Oct. 28, according to a press release from the Red Cross.
