The autopsy was released today of “Puppy Doe,” a severely abused dog found in Quincy and euthanized in Weymouth late last month.

The “Justice for Puppy Doe” Facebook Page  posted the autopsy on Tuesday to make the public aware that the abuser is still out there and could commit the same crime.

The autopsy states that Puppy Doe was found badly beaten and famished in the area of  Carroll’s Lane, near the Whitwell Street playground in Quincy by the Quincy Medical Center on August 31. After veterinary evaluation, the dog was humanely euthanized at the VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in Weymouth and the remains were frozen.

After evaluating her body, Dr. Martha Smith-Blackmore, the Vice President of animal welfare at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, found that the dog was suffering from starvation and weighed just 18.2 pounds. The normal healthy weight for a dog of her size is about 40 pounds.

Dr. Smith-Blackmore  found that the dog had a light accumulation of dental calculus, which is commonly seen in cases of starvation.  She was found with no body fat at all and her toenails were severely overgrown, with pointy tips curling under her claw.

She suffered from burns to her nose,  stab wounds to her eye, blunt force trauma to her chest, had a serpent-like split along the mid-line of her tongue, which the doctor believed was consistent with a sharp blade instrument, and had dried crusted blood in the fur of the back of her skull.

After conducting radio graphs, it was determined, “Puppy Doe” had multiple skull fractures, a fractured and collapsed right cheekbone, a fractured left cheekbone, wrist, and ankle and a dislocated right elbow.

“In my opinion and with a reasonable degree of medical certainty, this dog suffered from 'battered pet syndrome', a  deliberate abuse condition characterized by multiple fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries from a variety of causes in a variety of stages of healing. The orthopedic evidence suggests she suffered violent and forceful events of non-accidental origin,” Dr. Smith-Blackmore stated in the autopsy.

Despite being considered by many as a puppy, Dr. Smith-Blackmore also determined the dog was a young adult.

Quincy police are still looking for the abuser, according to examiner.com.  The Examiner article reported that the dog’s original name was "Kiya" and she was originally purchased  from a Weymouth man on Craigslist.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston will be offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the culprit who repeatedly tortured this dog.

Anyone with information should contact Quincy Police at  617-745-5774.
