Weymouth man charged with distributing marijuana

Wilton Hope, 51, of 58 Shawmut St., East Weymouth had charges of possession to distribute marijuana and conspiracy to violate drug laws continued to Feb. 11 for a jury status hearing in Quincy District Court. The charges stem from a May 13, 2011 incident in Milton at 9:10 a.m. when police allegedly observed a blue 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe passing through the Randolph Avenue and Centre Street intersection at a high rate of speed and then they stopped the vehicle. During a search of the vehicle police said they seized more than 1 ounce of marijuana packaged for sale.

Lawrence L. Luster, 29, of 20 Seaview Ave., Ext. St., Scituate had a charge of assault and battery dismissed in Quincy District Court. The charge stemmed from a July 2 incident in Weymouth after police responded to a report of a domestic incident in a back yard located in the vicinity of Broad and Front streets.

Weymouth man charged with trespassing after police say he was looking for a fight

Shawn M. Mariano, 24, of 634 Union St., Weymouth had a trespassing charge continued to Jan. 14 for a jury trial in Quincy District Court. The charge stems from a Jan. 1, 2011 incident in Quincy at 1:05 a.m. when MBTA police responded to a report of at least two fights outside the Quincy Center busway. MBTA police allege that Mariano claimed he wanted to participate in the fight, and was arrested after he was told five times to leave the area. Mariano faces separate charges of assault and battery and unlicensed driving stemming from a Sept. 7, 2010 incident in Weymouth at 7:29 p.m. when police were dispatched to Union Street for a report of an ongoing fight. Police say a witness observed Mariano allegedly get out of a car and punch a person in the face. Mariano then got back into the car and drove away, police said in the incident report. The case goes to trial Jan. 14.
