OBITUARY- Retired Weymouth Firefighter
A wake and funeral will be held this week for retired Weymouth firefighter Edwin T. Cross Sr. "Hop"
Retired Weymouth firefighter Edwin T. Cross Sr. "Hop" died this week at the age of 78 after a year-long battle with lung cancer.
Cross was a beloved husband, father, brother and "Papa. "An early entrepreneur, he spent his teen years selling ice cream from his horse-drawn cart throughout Weymouth. He then served in the Mass. National Guard, was a truck driver for the family firm, hauled gasoline for Cities Service and then became a Weymouth firefighter, serving the town with distinction for over 25 years.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, Feb. 28, from 4 - 8 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home in Weymouth. A Funeral Mass will be held March 1 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth at 9 a.m.
