Police Arrest Two Weymouth Residents for Drug Trafficking After Heroin Sale

Police arrested two Weymouth residents for drug trafficking on Friday.

Arthur J. Cole, 24, and Gina Cavicchi, 23, both of 36 South Ave. were arrested Friday night on charges of trafficking in cocaine, distribution of heroin as a subsequent offense, possession to distribute heroin, conspiracy to violate the drug laws, and possession to distribute Suboxone.

Cole is being held on $25,000 cash bail and Cavicchi is being held on $10,000 cash bail. They are due to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Tuesday.

Weymouth Police Captain  Richard Fuller said detectives obtained a search warrant for the Weymouth couple at their South Avenue home. On Friday at approximately 8:30 p.m., detectives were monitoring the area when they observed two females arrive in a vehicle at the home and leave after only minutes.

The  two females were followed by police to a parking lot of a closed business in Jackson Square and noticed they were in possession of hypodermic needles and a small bag of heroin that they had just purchased from Cole and Cavicchi.

Just before 10 p.m., police returned to the home of Cole and Cavicchi and detectives located trafficking amounts of cocaine, significant quantities of heroin, and Suboxone pills that were packaged for sale. Detectives also seized other evidence of drug dealing and over $700 in cash and Cole and Cavicchi were arrested.

Fuller said both suspects were previously arrested in March 2011 in Weymouth for trafficking in cocaine, possession to distribute Oxycodone, and possession to distribute heroin charges.

According to Weymouth police, Cole and Cavicchi plead guilty in Norfolk Superior Court. Cavicchi was sentence to probation on the charges on June 28, 2012. Cole pled guilty on June 28, 2012 and was serving a two-year sentence. Cole was released on December 12, 2012 pending a motion to vacate the sentence caused by the Jamaica Plain Lab scandal.

 Shortly after his release the narcotics units started to receive information that Cole was again selling drugs.
