Weymouth Resident Helps Police Catch Home Burglar

The following information was supplied by the Braintree Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 37-year-old Braintree man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after allegedly breaking into two Braintree homes and a home in Weymouth.

The man was caught after acting suspiciously a few streets away from the last break-in, on Liberty Street near Pond Meadow Park.

James J. Robertson was found with three cell phones, an iPod, some jewelry and three pills later identified as Lorazepam, Chief Russell Jenkins said in a statement.

Robertson was later identified by a resident on Summer Street in Weymouth who told police the man had been banging on her back door earlier in the day.

He was charged with two counts of breaking and entering in the daytime (two houses on Liberty Street), two counts of receiving stolen property over $250 (the two cell phones taken from the Weymouth home), receiving stolen property under $250 (the iPod stolen from the Liberty Street home) and possession of Lorazepam.

Jenkins said all of the residents involved were contacted and they said they were unaware that their homes had been broken into. No signs of forced entry were found.
