Weymouth Woman Dies after Carport Collapses

Investigators trying to determine if snow buildup on the roof caused the collapse.

A woman, who was pinned after a carport collapsed in Weymouth early Thursday, has died.

The 29-year-old woman, identified as Jenna Flaherty, was under a carport at her Harlem Road home when the roof collapsed around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Weymouth’s Deputy Fire Chief Richard Chase told MyFoxBoston she was knocked unconscious in the accident. She later died at South Shore Hospital.

Investigators are looking to see if snow buildup on the roof caused it to collapse.

State Police detectives from Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey’s Office have joined the Weymouth Police Department in investigating the incident, according to the DA's office.

The investigation is continuing in conjunction with Weymouth Police. Weymouth building services department has also been contacted.
