Precinct By Precinct Weymouth Election Results

Tuesday's preliminary election had a very low turnout of just 13 percent

Rebecca Haugh and Angel Montanez Jr. will square off in November's election as they were the two top vote getters in Tuesday's  preliminary election.

The two will run for the District 1 Councilor spot in November to replace Francis Burke, who will not seek reelection.

Haugh was the leading vote-getter across precincts 1-3, taking 51 percent of the vote with a total of 408 of the 789 total votes while Montanez received 26 percent of the vote with a total of 208 votes.

The two winners defeated communist candidate Dominic Giannone III, who received just 77 votes, and Kevin Harris, who finished with only 73.

Victor Pap was also on the ballot but announced was not running due to health reasons. Despite his announcement, Pap finished with 29 votes.

Tuesday’s preliminary election had a very low turnout of just 13 percent, according to Town Clerk Kathleen Deree.  Precinct 2 had the strongest turnout while  precinct 3 had the lowest.

The Town Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5.
