Haviland said the lockdown was conducted “as part of our ongoing effort to maximize safety and security in our school building, and as a part of the memorandum of understanding between the Weymouth Public Schools, the Weymouth Police and local law enforcement.”

All students and staff were safe during the process and all have returned to normal school day operations, according to Haviland.

Lockdowns have been done in the past at WHS. Last December, the school conducted two within a month after two bomb threats.

Editor's Note:  The headline was changed to show that the lockdown was conducted for safety purposes and not because of any threat to students.
