Honor Speaker Maretta Morovitz and seven other Weymouth residents received their diplomas on Thursday evening.
The Fontbonne Academy Class of 2013, which includes eight Weymouth residents, has completed its journey with Thursday's commencement ceremony. Seventy-two graduates walked across the stage on the Fontbonne Academy front lawn to receive their diplomas. Weymouth was well represented on stage with Class President Colleen MacDonald and Honor Speaker Maretta Morovitz providing speeches during the ceremony. Eliza McDonald from Quincy was the other Honor Speaker. "My time at Fontbonne has been so amazing," Morovitz said prior to commencement. Members of the class of 1963 were also in attendance on Thursday. Forty members of that class attended a reunion on Wednesday.

Eight Weymouth residents will receive their diplomas from Fontbonne Academy in Milton on Thursday, May 23. Maretta Morovitz, a member of the class of 2013 from Weymouth, will be one of the Honor Speakers at tonight's graduation. The other Weymouth residents that will graduate this evening are Colleen MacDonald, Sarah Martinez, Katelyn Ciardi, Courtney Russo, Christina Whalen, Alyssa Connolly and Erin Ferrara. From now untill June 14, the Wildcat Den will offer a buy one, get a half off on a second item sale. The school store is located inside Weymouth High School and is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Friday marked the beginning of a new chapter for the 141 Notre Dame Academy girls who graduated on a sunny afternoon at the school’s field. The Notre Dame seniors walked across family and friends one last time as high school students and then moved their tassels from right to left and became graduates. In front of a crowd of family members, classmates, faculty and friends, student speaker Julia MacDougall of Weymouth compared her class to a ring of fire explaining that each of the students has the potential to light up the world. “We, the Class of 2013, are the candles,” she said. “We bear the light. A Weymouth resident has earned the privilege to address her classmates at Fontbonne Academy's graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 23. Maretta Morovitz will be one of the Honor Address Speakers at the commencement ceremony. Unlike many other schools that select their graduation speakers based solely on class ranking, Morovitz, a National Honor Society officer, went through a much more intensive process. Moroviz and Quincy resident Eliza McDonald were selected as this year's speakers. Aside from having above the required 3.5 Grade Point Average, Morovitz and McDonald answered essay questions, faced an interview panel of nine and were voted upon by faculty and their classmates. This summer, students have a chance to win a bike just by reading.
For the 15th year, Weymouth readers have a chance to win a bike by just reading a book through the Dependable Cleaners Read to Ride Program. Students, ages six to 15, are eligible to start reading this week through August 9. Weekly prizes will be given out June 3 through August 12, with the exception of the Fourth of July. Entry forms are available at Dependable Cleaners, Farina’s Bicycle Center, Country Ski and Sport, and at dependablecleaners.com/read-ride. Participants can submit one entry form per book they read to any Dependable Cleaners location or with home delivery drivers.
