Delays on Weymouth Commuter Rail After Man Struck and Killed

Old Colony Commuter Rail riders in South Weymouth may have experienced delays on Wednesday morning after a train struck and killed a 59-year-old man in Kingston.

The MBTA Transit Police confirmed the 59-year-old white male was fatally injured after he walked on to the Summer Street railroad tracks just before 10 a.m. Wednesday as a commuter rail train was heading southbound, WATD reported.

The male was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kingston station is six stops from the South Weymout station on the Old Colony line.

In a MBTA release, it states the man was “trespassing on the right of way”.

Eleven passengers were stuck on the train for about two hours before they were shuttled by a local taxi service, WATD reported.
