Weymouth Police Continue To Search For Armed Robbery Suspect

One man was arrested while his accomplice is still on the loose after an armed robbery at Previte's Market on Friday afternoon in East Weymouth.

Weymouth police are still searching for one black male after an armed robbery at Previte’s Market and a carjacking at Linden Ponds on Friday afternoon.

Weymouth Police Capt. Richard Fuller said two black men, wearing masks and carrying handguns, robbed the East Weymouth market at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Fuller said witnesses reported that the males fled towards the Queen Anne’s Gate apartment complex.

A short time later Weymouth Officer Brendan Fogarty apprehended one of the suspects,  Angelo J. Ayuso, age 26, from 52 Bowdoin Street in Dorchester on the apartment complex, Fuller said.

Ayuso is charged with armed robbery while masked, carrying a firearm without a license, unlawful possession of ammunition, and a possession of a firearm during a felony.

The other suspect jumped a barbed wire fence into the Linden Ponds complex in Hingham where he carjacked vehicle from an 85-year-old woman after throwing her to the pavement. The vehicle was later located abandoned Quincy.

He  is still at large and police believe he still may have a handgun. Police did not provide a description, as the investigation is still ongoing.

Police said no one was injured in the Previte’s Market and the employees at the popular market say they are lucky to be alive.

"Just an update to let everyone know that all the employees and customers involved in Friday's robbery are ok," the market posted on Facebook. "We are very lucky and blessed to have such quick thinking employees. We had guardian angels that day and we appreciate all of you reaching out to us."

Ayuso is expected to be arraigned in Quincy District Court on Monday is being held at Weymouth Police Headquarters on $100,000 bail.
